2017 was a year of continued change for the health care industry. The transition toward value-based care continues to accelerate, and stakeholders throughout the industry are focused on ensuring their organizations are positioned for long-term success.
This has also been a busy year at Discern Health. We have continued to grow our staff and expertise while working with existing and new clients on initiatives in Quality Strategy, Measure Development, Alternative Payment Models, and Care Transformation. We’ve enhanced our Project Management and Data Analytics functions to support projects in these areas. Our staff has also participated in state, national, and international thought leadership forums in our changing industry.
Looking ahead to 2018, the trend toward value-based purchasing will continue to impact all sectors of the health care system. Discern’s 2018 projects include a focus on oncology quality measurement, the expansion of quality strategy work with our life sciences clients, and support for policy initiatives that will expand the reach of value-based care models into different care settings. CMS will continue to implement, review, and test new payment models, and we are also anticipating an increase in private sector activity (which is where many value-based purchasing concepts originated).
As an organization, Discern will continue to build on its positive reputation as a thought leader and reliable partner for quality strategy. We are planning to add significantly to our staff capacity during 2018. Please visit our careers page for information about joining our growing team.
Until then, wishing you a safe and cheerful holiday season and New Year,
Guy D’Andrea, Tom Valuck, and the staff at Discern Health
