Discern Publication Recommends Patient-Centeredness & Transparency for Improving Value Assessments

Discern Health Partner Tom Valuck and Director Matthew Castner co-authored the recent Journal of Clinical Pathways Counterpoint article, “Incorporating Patient Perspectives and Transparency for Patient-Centered Value Assessment.”

The article, which responds to Surabhi Dangi-Garimella’s Viewpoint article, “The Value of a Transparent, Inclusive Assessment Tool in Health Care,” discusses how the development of more patient-centered value assessment methods is necessary, but not sufficient, as improving care at the bedside and improving value across the care system require effective application of the assessment results.
